Throughout the United States and even in the world at large, marijuana addiction has increased at a scary pace. The laid back attitude of much of the population about marijuana use has taken the focus squarely off of this addictive drug and made it almost “no big deal” to a large number of people. As such, it can be hard to tell if you are addicted to marijuana, much in the same way that it is difficult to tell if you are addicted to tobacco. People that smoke weed on a regular basis often think they can stop anytime they like until they actually try. Then they realize that they are addicted to marijuana and feel like it is too late. Thankfully, there are marijuana treatment programs that can help them overcome the habit.

Here are some signs and signals that you may be addicted to marijuana:

The first and easiest sign of marijuana addiction is based on how often you smoke. Some people are addicted to marijuana and only smoke once a week. Others are addicted and smoke several times per day. The number of times you smoke certainly has an effect on your addiction, but it is possible to have a problem and not smoke every single day. The vast majority of marijuana addicts smoke regularly though. If you light up every day, you are certainly addicted to marijuana in some form and should seek help.

Another sign you are addicted is how you spend your money. If your first priority is to get weed when you get paid, you have a marijuana problem. If you buy marijuana before taking care of bills, family and necessities of basic living, you are likely a marijuana addict. This break down of living abilities is noted in heavy drug users of any kind, and marijuana is no different.

Physically, there will be signs of your addiction as well. Marijuana addiction works in the same way as any drug in that your body builds up a tolerance. You will begin to notice that the more you smoke, the more it takes to get the same high feeling. This tolerance will get worse and is a sign that your body is addicted to the drug.

Take a long look at your life. Are you choosing your relationships and recreation based upon whether or not you can get high? If so, then you are certainly addicted to marijuana. Also, do you become anxious and nervous when you are in social situations that prevent you from getting high? This is yet another sign.

Marijuana addiction is just as tough as many other drug addictions, and getting treatment is vital to your quitting. Do not think that you face this alone, as there are millions of others in this world that face the same problem. Connect with them and kick the marijuana habit today. Your body will love you for it!
